Wheat Bags - Bespoke

Bespoke Wheatybags Heat Packs are made to order in our own British Factory to your own size requirement.

Often a customer will ask us if we can make a special shape microwave heat pack or make them with straps or fastenings to hold the product in place.  These have been for many uses though as examples, we have made them:-

  • Extra large heat packs for particularly large people.
  • Much small versions (for inside an elderly man's gloves in winter).
  • With velcro style straps or elastics to hold the packs in place on specific body parts.
  • As cuddly toy replacement inner heat packs that have worn out.
  • Lighter weight packs for elderly people.

All our heat packs are made to order and as such we can accomodate most requests for bespoke packs though please keep in mind:-

  • They have to be small enough to fit in a microwave if you want to warm them.
  • They need to be small enough to carry safely as the wheat we use can become heavy if a lot is used.

How long should this heat pack be put into the microwave for ?

The length of time the heat pack will take to warm through will vary depending on the power of the microwave so we ask you to be careful when warming the heat pack. Place in the microwave and place on full power, assuming 800w mocrowave for around 60 seconds.  The heat pack should be warmed through and not over heated. Please adjust the length of time and microwave power to suit your own needs and be careful not to overheat the pack.

Is it normal that my heat pack feels damp when microwaving ?

When you first microwave the heat pack, the wheat inside is damp by nature at first but will dry off after a few uses.  Feeling damp is quite normal though take care not to overheat the heat pack to attempt to dry out the product.  It will dry off naturally after a few uses and is quite normal to be damp at first.

Do you offer different colours and fabric choices for this heat pack ?

Yes we do. We make all our heat packs to order in our British factory so if you would like to make a special request, please make contact with us by email and we will provide a cost for you or see the "Bespoke Heat Pack" section for more details.

What happens if I microwave for too long ?

Remove from the microwave as soon as possible, do not use until completely cool and check if there is a burnt smell.  If they have burnt, throw the product away and purchase a replacement.

How do I chill the Wheatybags in the freezer ?

Simply place the Wheatybag into a plastic bag and close up then place in the freezer for a couple of hours.  Remove from the plastic bag before use and stop using the product if it causes any discomfort from the cold created in the freezer.

Can I wash my Wheatybags Heat Pack ?

No. The wheat should not be brought into contact with water. If it is then the product needs to be dried quickly before the wheat inside germinates.  We recommend that you do not use the Wheatybag if this happens.

Heating Instructions

  • Please take care heating this pack and be careful not to burn the wheat inside. If you smell a burnt smell, the heat pack is best thrown away and a new one purchased.
  • If your product comes with a removable cover, please remove this before heating in the microwave.
  • As a guide, smaller heat packs can be heated in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds (at 800 watts) and larger packs from 60 to 120 seconds (reduce time for higher powered microwaves).  If you find the WheatyBag isn’t warm enough then microwave for a further 15 seconds each time and check that the pack does not become too hot for your own use.
  • The WheatyBag Heat pack will feel damp on the first few uses which is normal and will dry up over a few times.  Once it does dry out, it is advisable to put a small cup of water in the microwave while heating the pack to prevent excessive drying of the wheat.
  • Ensure all grilling / browning facilities if present in your microwave are turned off first. Do not place on a direct heat source.

Care Instructions

  • Do not wash the heat pack with wheat inside.  If you have selected to have a removable cover on your WheatyBag, please only wash the removable cover according to the care label inside the product.
  • Always test the temperature of the bag before applying.
  • ASTHMA SUFFERERS should be aware that this product contains wheatgerm.
  • To use cold, place in a plastic bag in the freezer for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Heating should take place by adults only and full care and attention is required.
